Hello Everyone:

I have been look through all the threads about people pre-selling things for the frag swap....so a question comes to mind - Will there by anything there for us to just come in a purchase or should I assume that if I have purchaed from some of you who are pre-selling that there will not be anything there......just a bit confused. Since i have never been to an event like this i just want to make sure i am prepared and know what to expect - Thanks

there should be plenty....most of the threads that you see usually include "rare" items that people dont want to frag without reason.....the more common stuff will definitely be in abundance (atleast thats how it was last year)

i purchased a few pre-sell items last year, but save most of my $$$ for the day of the swap

I think I asked this same question last year, Hollie. :)

There will be plenty to look at and buy this coming year.

Thats the main reason I started my thread... You hate to frag a more expensive coral, just to have it sit on a table for a few hours and then bring it back home to your tank... That and I'm a little social butterfly that doesn't like to be confined to a table... ;)

No worries though, there will be PLENTY available at the swap if years past are any indication... Most that presell bring stuff to the swap as well...

I don't think anyone that was not particular on what they wanted ever left our swap empty handed I think the opposite happens.

Social yes........ little and butterfly are a stretch:lol:

Like others have stated this comes up every year and there should be plenty;)

People like me that won't be able to make it and those that have harder to find things typically like to pre-sell. I know I usually would still bring a few rarer things to trade or sell so those should still be available as well.

Yeah, there's plenty of really nice stuff there. Don't think that you must pre-purchase to get the good stuff. I've seen some really nice (rare) zoas that never were posted on this board.

But if you're looking for something in particular, this is a good way to assure yourself of getting what you want.

I was going to comment on the social butterfly, too, but you beat me to it:D.

Even at the smaller swaps from four years ago, there were thousands of frags that weren't presold. I'll have quite a few frags of just about everything, so come see me:).

Hollie... if you have trouble finding something that floats your boat... please let me know... for that will mean I have failed miserably.

That said, if you see something you like in a pre-sell, don't hesitate to jump on it because it is going to be the more rare stuff.

This is not to say there won't be some rare stuff at the swap, but most people hesitate to hack up a nice, healthy, thriving, expensive colony if they don't KNOW they are going to sell.

I agree with gary for sure the first big swap by opryland several years ago had tons of presells as well when you got there presells where jist a drop in the hat if you dont come home wothbat least ten bags of new corals then you are doing something wrong lol and that seema like many many years ago i can only imagine what it will be like now

We don't pre-purchase because we can't decide what we want to buy. We usually don't have a problem drop a nice chunk of money at the swaps. My husband and I both buy things and are always happy when we leave the swap.

yea, you might miss somethin', but if you hold out til closer to the end, the good deals start flyin'. I'm talkin' 2 for $5 frags, $5 frags, etc.

One year I was checkin' out someones table who was gettin' ready to pack up. I ended up with like 5 frags for $20. They was SPS and LPS...

Steve

yup, thats what im doing this year steve...i decided to stay away from buying some of the presale stuff this year....though its tempting, i liked the fact that i scored a ton of goodies at the end of the swap

I bought what I could not live without at the beginning of the swap and then hit all of the deals at the end of the swap. We left Broke! LOL

Yep, wait 'til the end. Most people don't want to haul frags back. Of course, you won't get the "cream of the crop", and the really primo stuff will be in short supply anyways because it grows so slow. I usually give frags away at the end so I don't have to bring them home and I'm sure others do the same!

Dave

I always spread mine out.... I get the stuff I have been looking for in presells, then I get the stuff I see and have to have, then finish with a bang with the deals at the end :)

I think Im addicted to swaps
