Perhaps her family can collect it? I know with hospice, sometimes the funeral expenses are quite a hardship.

Yes we could collect it but it will cost more to pay the lawyer to get it.

You never know. Call up the company. Explain the situation. Depending on the company and dollar amount, they may just ask for a simple death certificate. You may just get a sympathetic individual.
