I stopped in to UB's today to see what they had in stock. I was rather surprised when I saw the carpet of red slime on the fish tank cubes. The $14 frags were ok for $14 frags. They also had a baby purple tang. Looked good, great color, very active in the tank, and for $180 it could be yours. Also they had 1 sally light foot crab. It must have just shed with the colors as bright one it as they were, and for $22 it could be yours..... $22 for a sally light foot...LOL thats funny.

I was in there a couple months ago and they had a purple tang. Then it was $100, wanted to buy it but didn't have the 240g tank yet.

I have seen some good deals there in the past, and the store has great potential, but they are stuck on Indy $ and they won't get that up here from most.

I heard the guy from The Pet Store Too was the manager there. If this is true Im not one bit suprised about the tanks and prices. Every time we went in to that store (the pet store too) the tanks where nasty as heck. The fish was always priced. $180 is crazy for a purple tang. That thing better be huge. $22 for a $10 crab, they will have that for awhile unless the find a newbie to sell it to.

Well I know he is learning so I am sure if you talk to him about it would look into it. He has always seemed pretty interested in what I had to say.

Like I said, there is great potential there, they just need to take care of what they got. There are not many fish out there that are worth $180 as a baby. The wrasses they had, and a few gobies looked good,. Also had a sweet fu man chu lion fish that was good looking. I was just not real impressed by how poor the tanks looked. A real turn off for sure. The bid discus tank in the center looked like watered down coffee, not sure what happened there, they wouldn't say when I asked about it.

They did have some huge acro colonies in there when they first opened up for $100. I thought that was a good deal.

It has kinda gone down hill with the maintenance. hopefully they bounce back.

My biggest issue with UBs is the lack of pricing knowledge. I've been in there a few times and asked for the price on an unmarked coral. The non-management employees couldn't find it and refused to make a judgment call. Twice now I've left empty handed because no one could give me a price.

I won't go into the quality of the livestock. Some good, a lot of bad.

The only reason they had good prices when they first opened was to lure people in there. There dry good prices where still ridiculous at the time. I like to go in there just to look around when Im bored though. I've never spent a penny in their and I seriously doubt I ever will as the one store I shop at locally can get just about anything you want if you ask for it at a respectful price. But thats just my opinion. I dont like to shop at stores where employee's are pressured to sell you something or they are fired if they dont meet their quota. This just usually leads to useless information just to make a sale thats not in the hobbiest best intrest. Hopefully U.B. changes strategy on this as they do have potential. I'll also admit, after seeing their big tanks and equipment running them, I thought that maybe their livestock would be healthier than it is. Its kinda sad.
