understanding current

Is there anything that can aid in determining where my current is an is not such as a safe dye that I can use while fish/corals are present?

I have had a new tank setup for about a month and it seems no matter how i arrange my 6 nozzels, I either get sand storms or dead spots.

I think a dye would really help in this case.

fill up a couple latex powder free gloves like ballons and weight em in there, like little LPS corals. :D

An air pump should work,.. you can watch the bubles

I agree that an air pump with an airstone bubbled into the intake of the powerhead, so they shoot out of the powerhead will work well enough.

Just use your turkey baster to shoot air into the intake of powerheads and return pumps. You will be able to see excatly where the flow is.

That's a good suggestion.
