Underwater Tank Photos

A few weeks ago someone mentioned taking pictures of their tank using an underwater camera and I wanted to test it out. I think most of the corals look better this way than when the pictures are taken through the glass. It was hard focusing since the tank is so small and hard to move away. I can't wait to try it in a larger tank.

Enjoy!

And if anyone else has done this, post your pictures too!

The xenia never have a pretty color in pictures, anyone know why?

looks great. I was thinking about picking up an olympus stylus 10mp underwater camera.

Im just worried about the salt effect on the camera.

Are you using flash? That might be why the xenia color looks off. If you could get good shots without flash with ambient light, that would be best.

It must be hard as hell keeping the camera still, adjusting settings, and focusing with your hands in the tank though, lol.

On an early morning impulse upon seeing an ad I just bought an underwater camera. A fugifilm cam.

It's still sitting here in the box (somewhere). I haven't even taken it out of the box. I think I want to return it and get the Olympus 1030. I guess it's a bit more money but from a water resistance of 10' to 33' is a huge difference as well as Olympus is a good brand name. Now where did I put that box at?

I didn't even try it with the flash off, I'll do it with the next round whenever that may be!

The hardest part was trying to see what i was taking pictures of! My tank is small and I didn't want to disturb anything and cause it to close before I got the picture so I basically just kept taking pictures and in the end kept the best ones.

Coralfragger, return it and spend a little more for better quality. Through this hobby at least, you should have learned to spend the money for quality the first time so you don't have to later down the road! We also purchased an extra battery for the days when we would be out on the boat for the entire day. No matter how many times you tell everyone to save the battery and look at the pictures later, no one ever does and it kills the battery!

i take under water shots with my 1030 all the time. try putting the camera on anti-shake, super macro and no flash. depending on te angle and the distance from the coral you can get some nice shots.

and for anybody worrying about the elements wearing on this camera, dont. I have had my camera for 8 months i take it diving almost everyweekend. One time I dropped it of the bost and it landed in 41 feet! got down there and it was good, sctreen was a little bowed in from the pressure, but all in all still works well after that.

nice pictures too
