On a recent trip to Floridias Gulf Coast, I brought back a rather strange looking "snail"?!!! I kinda looks like a conch but has a trap door and spiney like protrusions all over it. The the only thing I can find that it even looks close to is a Murex.!? It is a tan color and is the size of a womans fist.

Can anyone help with the identification of this "snail"?

Thanks Bob!!

The last picture is what I have.!! now to find out what to feed and do with it!!

Hi Lee & Kary,

Glad to be of help. These guys are carnivores and feed upon other mollusks (either clams and snails).

Cheers,
Bob
