Anyone have a second they can help me figure out what this guy is? I got it as a hitchhicker a while ago (6 months) it was the size of a pinky fingernail not it is about the size of a dime.
I have a special macro 10x lense ordered for my a620 so hoefully I can really get in on it and give you a better picture to work with.

here is the picture and the address since somereason yahoophotos has such a hard time with links.

what did it come on? looks like a carribean or atlantic species. there isnt much, if at all, collection allowed there, so identification will be hard to impossible.
a photo with it closed, exposing the coralites a little more, will help.

right now it looks similar to a sponge ;)

You are right it is carribean shelf coral. I broke a small peice of a corner off from the big shelf it was on and placed it high in the tank on top of an old dead lettuce coral head.

The live rock I got was called haitian live rock. I've had it for a while now... don't do anything special to it.. I guess it is getting some marine snow from the water column. I've not been able to take a picture of it closed as it is so small I can hardly tell the difference between open and closed. It is definatly a hard coral
not a spong.
