Unsure what is wrong with my Goniopora

Well I continue to find issues I do not know how to handle. My goniopora has developed a large pink pulsing spot about the size of a .50 cent piece right in the middle of its "body". It hasn't been extended for the past couple of days.

Is it sick? What do I do? Should I quarantine?

I changed to LED lights about 3 weeks ago and at first I was worried but then it was fine for the last couple of weeks.

I have checked all levels I know to check. Calcium is 410. pH is 8.2. Salinity is 1.024. Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate is 0.

I'd put a baggie over it to keep whatever that stuff is out of the water column, and remove it from your tank into a quarantine tank. In one way, it looks like brown jelly disease, but it's not really as "brown" as I'm used to seeing. Not sure what it is, but it doesn't look good.

Pretty sure it's not your lighting. How long have you had the coral?

I have had it for about 3 months. Is there a way to treat a sick coral?

Also I had a friend say I should post this on the Disease thread. Should I do that?

Well, the disease did turn brown. I suctioned off the section but it continues to spread. I used Vitamin C as instructed by one site. Still no abating the "jelly" takeover. Any thoughts?

And should I post this on the disease website as well?

I have yet to see a coral recover from this, maybe use revive or coral Rx if you can get some. Recently I have then a thread about bayer dipping. Some type of bug killer from lowes, but good luck trying to stop this. I loay my entire 1' wellso last year.

The 'usual' problem with a goniopora is that it's a goniopora ! Their survival rate is very poor for 'wild caught'. If you want a chance of success I would suggest aquacultured frags.

Regardless of what it is, the longer you keep it in your display tank, the better the odds that it spreads to everything else. Get. It. Out.

Thanks for asking. I put in QT for 4 weeks. Lost the center 2 inches but the remaining goni is alive and well. it has not fully extended since reintroducing to DT but color is good and it appears to be eating. No more loss or sickness evident.

What did you treat it with in the qt?

I used a toothbrush soaked in vitamin c to scrub off the dead goni parts. Then I suctioned off any additional dying sections and repeated the process. I kept a high flow of water on it so any debris would be removed before it could take hold. that is all and it worked.

Bad news....

Bad news....

I've had an on going problem with this for 5 or 6 months, it started with an acan frag and i just kept dipping it Lugols and it would be ok for a bit and a couple of weeks later it would come back, then it started spreading to other acans, duncans and candycanes. If only I would have taken it out of the tank and left it out it would have saved me losing some 3 and 4 year old colonies. I'm not sure what causes brown jelly infections but there are threads on here where many reefers have tried to battle this to no avail.

Here is an update of my goni after removing from the QT. There is much repair to be done but he is on the mend. Thanks for comments.
