Unused DC4 outlets

The Aquacontroller Jr controlls 12 devices. If i have unused outlets on my DC4, can i set them to ON and then reprogram the ACjr to other devices and just use those spare outlets as regular outlets? Or would they not remain on unless they are programmed to Turn On by the controller?

You need to have the AquaController configured to control the outlets (timer names and program statements). If not the outlets would not necessarily turn on following a power failure.

but would they remain on without a power failure? (i can always turn them back on if power shuts)

Once a DC4 or DC4HD is in the on state it will remain on until a power failure or it receives a command to shut it off.
The DC4 or DC4HD cord is 6 feet long; you don't want run long extension cords when the DC4 or DC4HD is potentially pulling so much current (15 Amps).

Yes, a telephone style cord is used to pass control information between the AquaController and the DC4 (or DC4 to DC4). A normal AC power cord is used to power the outlets.

why is everything with you 30 ft? how long is your tank, 30 ft? he he
i believe they recommend the telephone cords not to be too long either.

The max recommended length on the telephone cord is 10 feet. I know that some customers have run the cord much longer (50+ feet) without problems, but I don't recommend it.

Ok, just a few more questions..I promiss, how many DC4 or DC4HDs can you have total? Does the DC4HD come with everything I'll need ?

Depends on the particular AquaController. For the AC1, AC2, or ACPRO it is 5 (5*4=20). For the ACJR it is 3, and for the 3Pro it is 8. Yes, the DC4s come with everything you need (control unit and telephone cord).

Curt

but they dont come with the 30ft tank.
why are your ballasts so far away? heat?
you can use DC4s for the things by your tank, and then an x-10 terminal for your ballasts if you like so that you dont have to worry about how far it is. x-10 is less reliable than DC4, but its only your lights on it, not your pumps. so worst case would be your light shuts or turns on at the wrong time.

Albert,

Everything is on X10s now and the lights come on and off like a xmas tree. (Speratically through out the day & night) I want to keep everything on X10s except the lights. THe Ballast are in the Garage because of noise and the heat. I have one component that has 5 MH ballast in it, it's very noisy.. I also have the X10s controlling a light on my QT tank (same issue) Lastly, I have an Icecap VHO Ballast (same issue).

I had an issue last week in that my MH lights (1000w) were on all night, when I went to bed the were off, they turned on by them selves.

This bleached a lot of my corals. They are comming back now but I don't want it to happen again.

I'm sure it's an issue with my house but I'm running out of time to fix it. (I'm out of the country next week.

I just ordered two of the DC4HDs (second day shipping) I'm going to give them a shot. I'll be selling a bunch of x10s on ebay if this works!

Curt thank you for your help, by the way I have the 3 pro.

Yes, we have the 3 Pro in stock, however, the pro temperature probe is on back order until mid week.

Curt

Depends on which temperature probe you currently have. There are 3 different temperature probes which are not compatible with each other.

PRBTMP for AC1 and AC2.
PRBTMPP for ACPRO and AC3PRO
PRBTMPJR for the AquaController Jr.
