Unusual bangaii pair ?

Just an update, I picked up 5 more bangaii, 3 large adults and two smaller ones. A friend broke down his 180 as he is moving. I placed all 5 in a bare 15 gallon tank and in less than 24 hours I had three cowering in the corner while two had the run of the tank. Guess we all know what that means :D So the "inventory" is now 4 pair (two of them breeding) and 7 unpaired adults. I'm just gonna let them work it out, I'll add the 3 new ones to the four I raised and see what happens.

No tumblers yet and the breeding males have not held to term, there is one still holding now at 6 days. I'm so busy with clowns there is no rush, I'll get busy working with them some day.

yes David we do know what that means... your gonna corner the So Cal market on baby banggais w/in 6 months

Frank, if I raised 10 per year I would "corner the market" :D For now the ocellaris are my highest priority and I am just gathering and conditioning broodstock for a time when the industry recognizes the value of CB bangaii. It's an altruistic persuit, I will raise what I can and hold on to the hope that one day it will be finacially viable.

Well Steve that is a difficult question to answer and one that has me wondering. WC bangers sell at wholesale for as low as $3.95. They tend to retail for anywhere from $15-$20 as the die off is extremely high and the stores try to keep the margin up. Consumers have wised up too, $15 is not a good deal for a dead fish. So what I am saying is there is not a clear market, basically it's only the uninformed that buy them. After 2-4 losses they quit trying. Based on my own inquiries I think people will pay $30 for penny sized CB bangaii's. A local fs agrees and will give me $12.50 for them and try retailing at $29. I think it will work but time will tell. The current nanno craze certainly helps, I take 1" clowns to the stores and they ask if I have anything smaller :D

david, I'm setting up a 100gallon (200+ gallon total system volume) and was thinking about a small school of bangaiis. would you be able to sell maybe 5 of them when they're available? =) I'd much rather buy from you than from the LFS

Cool it Frank, I'll handle this one ;) Kinetic, RC has rules and one of them is we don't get to buy/ sell on this forum. PM is your'e best bet but in this case I can tell you that it will be a very long time before I ship any bangaii's
