Unusual wrasse behavior

I have a black leopard wrasse. I noticed that when i feed large pellets he will grab one and bang it on the rocks or glass to break it up into smaller pieces. Kinda surprised me. I have heard of birds and mammals doing this but I wasn't aware of wrasse or other fish doing this.

It really is. Maybe a feeding behavior to break crustaceans open?
