Update on 400 gallon in BC...

I thought I would post some updated photos for you on that thread you started about my tank..but it looks like the thread has been removed.

I'm guessing that it broke a rule by linking to another discussion group.... If that's true, they should simply have removed the link rather than the entire thread..but I'm speculating.

Anyway...here's some updated shots of the rock and tank. As you can see, TBS rock makes for a much more natural looking reef.

whats the macro species?

Sorry, I'm no macro algae expert.

I would venture to call them fern caulerpa, grape caulerpa, halimeda, mermaids fan...and others.

There was a very large, red, leafy macroalgae but the Naso has completely eaten it.

Nice looking tank! How many pounds of rock is in there now?

Maybe 400lbs. Lots of upward room for my coral to grow.

Yes, that was the thread I would have posted on...I still can't find that thread except through your link. I only see 3 pages of threads on the TBS forum....

when you first click on the TBS page look at the very bottom of the thread list and you will see a blue footer with this text:
"Showing threads 1 to 25 of 59, sorted by"

has three dropdowns and the last one is "posts in the last xxx days"

by default it's the last 30 days of posts with the new ones at the top.
just jump it up to 60 days and then you can page thru.

then post on it -- even a "bump" and it will show up on the front page ... till it stays idle to long.

I'll bump it for you with a link to this thread ... :)

That is a stunning tank. I think I could sit at that bar, drink beer and watch the tank for days at a time.

I've tried that. I fall asleep every time. There is absolutely nothing more relaxing that lounging while watching the fish tank. The fish just swimming slooowly back and forth, back an..d..fo..r....t....snnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

awesome tank untamed! wished mine was that bigggggg. i know what you mean when you say you can just sit there and watch the fish swim by only thing that could make it better is a pina colada! .better than the movie channel just maybe a little more expensive..is it open on the back too? would love to see a current pic.

you are the man! i can barely figure out how to post a pic and here you are giving us video. That is a really great tank..where did you come up with the idea for putting it in front of your bar stacked on stone..that is really a cool idea.

I knew that I wanted a different look than the usual finished cabinetry. When I decided on "bar height", the evolution of a bar wasn't a big leap.

The tank was about 1 year in planning, so I had a lot of time to read all the large tank build threads. I borrowed lots of ideas from there.
