Update on my BM150

Just an update, the "break-in period" has surely passed, but this thing just does not perform. I move it up, move it down, move the arm. I pulled it out and trimmed the threadwheel as per Greg at Reefgeek, but I just don't get the desired product, skimmate.

At best, I get very light tea colored stuff and it doesn't overflow. At worst, I get nothing, or an overflow.

I'm open to suggestion if anyone has one. I have no idea how others have gotten these to work satisfactorily, from my view it is just a very expensive water aeration device. :(

Best,

When your not geting skimmate are you having skimate scum accumulating in the neck?
If so is it in specks or an even coating?

Not sure why you would have to trim the wheel of the 150 it sould be adjustable enough not to need triming. The 200 trimming i understood, the 150 trimming ??
Have you ever put a airflow meter on it? I would like to no if you are pulling enough air for the neck size.

You might want to PM Oliver. maybe with some photos.

I have no such meter for airflow, so I haven't tried that.

Yes, it gets a fairly even coating of gunk on the inside of the uplifting column, but doesn't spill over.

Greg advised me to trim the wheel, honestly, I see no difference. I had no performance before, and still none.

I'm not sure what to take a picture of, it looks like a skimmer with nothing in the cup, there really isn't too much to show. What would you suggest?

Hello, did you ever get this skimmer to work properly? If so, how do you like it now? I was thinking of getting one, but I'm not so sure after seeing the feedback of others. Thanks. :)

If its on any of those tanks, I wouldnt expect it to pull anything. You're not going to have enough protiens to build a foam head in a neck like that.

May I ask why? I have a similar sized setup and I would hate to waste money on a skimmer that is inappropriate. Why won't it pull anything? Is it because the skimmer is too large? What is the neck size of the BM skimmer? And what size skimmer would you recommend (neck size)? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. :)
