the fish look alot better today, the 2 clowns seem good and my blenny seems to be only lightly nipping every now and then at him self so i am hoping that one more 24 hour treatment of copper will do it,the blenny is breathing a tad fast but that may be due to ammonia in the water,i tthink ill do a little water change before i put more drops in

ammonia....? in a fish tank?

you get ammonia in your water when ya membrane needs to be replaced and dicksons water has ammonia in it....till i can replace it now in november i am getting 50 or so ppm out of my unit.....as ssoon as i did a 2 gallon water change in the QT the blenny decided to have a huge poop fest in there lol

I am kinda surprised. I've never had a QT tank, and I thought just a little bit of Ammonia can l kill the fish... so you don't need to cycle your QT tank at all?

there are people that dont cycle them yea but then they have to keep up with water changes more and testing it....in my case it has been cycled, however our city water has ammonia in it and since my rodi is letting 50ppm out...well there ya have it, i can get away with out doing a water change in my QT for around 2 days but on the 3rd the ammonia in the water plus their food plus their poop adds up fast in that 10g so i dont chance it and just do a water change on it everyday
.................................................................................................................
UPDATE: i dont get whats going on but the clowns seem ok again today and the blenny is scratching and twitching a bit again today so i guess i'll keep them in there tonight and give them another amount of quick cure aka copper when it's around 24hrs....just frustrating me that they are living in my QT and not in my display :(

UPDATE: well im not too sure but now my female clown is resting on the bottom of the QT but is moving her fins and stuff at the momment, the smaller clown looks fine but is swimming right beside the female and the blenny is bout the same....i did do another water change because the ammonia was 1.o

Not saying you shouldn't, but some people don't cycle it. I didn't when I had my QT. I had some nasty parasite that just won't die though, eventually killed my fish. Can't remember what the parasite was called, but nothing I tried kills them off completely except freshwater bath. But I guess some was still lurking around and repopulate back on the fish again very quickly.....The second time wasn't so lucky....

well after i did a water change she lifted up a bit and swam some but not for more then like 2hrs or so and now shes like this so not sure, she twitches her fin some and the blenny still scratches..... ill do another treatment on them tomorrow i suppose :(

ok so now they are swimming around and look better,i think the blenny is still scratching a bit, i may try a freshwater dip on them....though doing that and putting them back into my QT negate the work of the dip because the parasite is in the water of the QT?

Freshwater dip does not help with ich!!! You should read up on life cycles on ich. Hypo and copper kills them during the free swim stage.

Mario, I have a Flametail Blenny that has scratched himself on the sand bed practically every day since I got him (not frantically mind you, likes he's trying to dislodge something - but lays down and scratches himself once on one side and then once on the other side). He was our first fish - we got him almost a year ago. He has never showed any white spots or other outward signs of any parasites, is very healthy (maybe a bit pudgy) and eats like a pig. I think he just likes scratching himself because it feels good (or maybe he has dry skin LOL). I could be wrong, but at least in my observation of this one fish, scratching doesn't always mean "ich".

Are you testing the amonia levels in your QT tank daily? Amonia can cause gill irritation - and if they are scratching on things near their head/upper body and/or "gasping" for air or breathing harder than normal, it could be amonia toxicy and not the parasites. Just a thought.

and a very good thought and a very good possibility,im running out of my ammonia test and whats left im not sure it's very accurate.......here is a good question....what ammount of ammonia can be in the tank before they start acting weird?....i know ideally we wont no ammonia in our tanks but being that our city water has ammonia in it and looks like my rodi isnt taking it out i cant fix that right now

A good water conditioner (like Prime) I believe are supposed to remove the ammonia in your tap water.

Even very, very small amounts of ammonia can be irritating and potentially deadly with continued exposure. Ultimately, ammonia needs to be zero (whether it is a QT or Display).

What type of filter are you running on your QT tank? And how big are your three fish?

the filter is a regular HOB 100GPH one....no media in it since im using copper.....i didnt know prime did that....either way i cant buy any right now.... one clown is like 3 inches and shes becoming a pig lol....the smaller clown is only a bit bigger then an inch and the blenny is around 3 inches and he is a pig and he poops bombs lol

Isn't your QT a 10 gallon? That a lot of fish for such a small tank w/ no biological/mechanical/chemical filtration. Even a small sponge in the filter or some type of media that bacteria can colonize (better if you have some cycled media from your display's filter or sump). Even if you're doing a gallon water change every day and feeding very little - all the waste and leftover food will accumulate. But thats jmo.

Mario, Are you using water that has Chlorine in it without using a Declorinator like Prime or Amquell or whatever???? Please tell me you are not doing this without treating that water for the Chlorine, If your RODI is not removing it.
Bill
