okay gang, sorry it has taken so long to post an update on my tank..so far so good, everything seems to be as happy as a clam, pardon the pun:rollface: I still just sit in front in my tank in fascination of all the life and that is thanks to richard. so far i just have a lawnmower blenny (hair algae control), kole tang, and 2 lemon damsels. I am trying to narrow down what other fish will call my little reef home. I have added some of my corals from my original tank into this tank too, doing great, water is stable, phosphate unmeasureable. Had a problem with my amonia when i first got part 2 for some reason and it hit my gongorian hard but it is coming back now. I lost some of my critters and sponges but Richard gladly replaced it, i didnt even have to ask, that is just the way he does business..customer satisfaction is #1 priority.

The Corals that come from Richard are Stephanocoenia but they are called Blushing coral or Star Coral. They are very hardy corals.

Oh also sorry lol. On the Purple Gorgonians. Take some scissors and snip the dead branch parts off. Since the major tisues are not connected it will die off. I did that to mine and its steadily growing a new stalk.

really just cut it off, the tissue is growing back, slowly but it is growing and covering the bare parts of the branches. scowii, any idea on what kind of hard corals i received. For the most part they are healthy, just brown and the polyps are extended so i assume they are feeding well. I have no experience with hard corals so this is new. I am assuming my 475 vho's wont be enough to supply their light needs and have to expand my system to include some metal halides.

I reccomend this book. I bought it on ebay.

Oceanographic Series: Corals A quick Reference Guide by Julian Springs

If you do a search for julian Springs You should find it. It is really good he also has one on Invertabrates.

The domed one that looks like a golf ball is called Siderastrea Radians.

The purple one is called Eunicea (Knobby Candelabrum)

The orange one is called Axinella (Finger Sponge)

The Red orange one is Higginsia and Ptilocaulis (Red Finger Sponge)

The One orange one that looks Like a lettuce leaf is called Teichaxinella or Ruffled Sponge.

They are all reef safe and are filter feeders that require a strong flow. Life span Months-Years.

Hope this helps.

Ive had mine do well with just stock lighting that comes with the biocube. They tend to like low-medium lighting.
