update on stocking 55

ok so i took most of the advice given to me and went up to the place i got my fish at today. currently in the tank are a volitan lion, golden butterfly, and a small banded moray eel. i just today bought a snowflake eel and an antenneta lion. im going to be giving the volitan lion and banded moray back to the store for store credit. once this is done, are there any good fish that i can put into the tank that will keep the size and compatability factors in range? i was thinking of getting a sailfin tang but im not sure yet. any comments are appreciated.

thanks

i still wouldnt add anymore once they go back. SFE and antennata will have a huge impact on your bio load and take a good portion of space up when grown.

ok its just that the butterfly seems so out of place in the tank :D but there is nothing that can really go in there after that?

Ah, the Butterfly and Snowflake eel will also outgrow a 55..No Tang, especially large ones such as Sailfins, belong in a tank that size

Dwarf Angels, Small Hawkfish' Blennys, Gobys..fish that stay under 4" are more appropriate for your tank

hawkfish and small lions make great friends mine use to play stacks on was quite amusing to watch a lion sitting on top of a hawk

I had a full grown snowflake in a 55 once.. HE WAS HUGE... pusihg 30" long and 2x golfball thick. I felt really bad for him in there, so i upgraded to a 110. He was just to big for a 55 (IMO). Antennatas stay smaller then volitans. I've seen some BIG golden butterflies (like 8") Eventually you will need upgrade with just the current fish your housing now. I would get maybe a flame hawk or flame angel, and call it a day :) then upgrade when needed

long term i say no to a antennata. Sure his a few years old but ours is 10 inches long and easy half that wide i just wouldnt put that in a 12inch wide tank

age old rule.
fish only tanks are best done at least 6ft long.
besides you will get so into this hobby youll be saving your sennies and begging on sidewalks to save up for a 180 (we've all been there)
definately stick to fish that dont get larger than 4", youll have happier fish for it.
