Awesome fish and video!! I'm super jealous!

Just my .02, but why exactly were you all so desperate to figure out if the fish was alive to the point that you were bashing, etc? Yeah, sure it's a super rare, super cool fish, but lets be honest, half the time these fish go to people that aren't even involved in RC and most people lose interest after the original hype about the fish, so was it just to say I told you so?

Most people who are brand spanking new to the hobby don't drop a couple of g's on a rare hybrid and then lose interest.

Because it's human nature. The way this thread went, with the last real information we had was that the fish was floating on the top of the water gasping for air, then suddenly, no further posts. How can anyone not assume the worst? Yea, perhaps some of the remarks were a bit unnecessarily mean-spirited... Either way, the fish is alive and well.

fishkid, that's a mighty impressive collection of fish.

Don't blame him, his LFS are House of Fins and Greenwich Aquaria. The rarest fish my LFS gets in are multicolors.

Sardaukar- No i did not buy the most expensive fish i could find. I have a lot of interest in angels and deep water fish and they tend to have a higher price tag. I didn't lose interest, I just stopped posting on the forums as much. I still talk to a few people in my club and i still go to the LFS every week.

jhawkor- yes they get along great. the tigerpyge chased him for a few minutes after i released him into the tank but there best friends now. the flame hybrid follows the tiger around all day. it's kind of funny to watch. i don't think they will ever be a true pair but who knows what could happen.

That's pretty awesome. I'll be the first to tell you that I have absolutely no interest in angels and the like, but that is one beautiful fish. What kind of job have you got, or was that more of wishful thinking about the WRX? If I were you I'd also look into a VW GTI, 3 Series BMW (I've got a '97 328i and it's a great first car), or something along those lines. I haven't driven a WRX but I imagine it's more responsive than the average car (as is mine). You're a damn classy kid, I'll give you that.

i do small work for family friends ATM. what takes up all my time is filling out applications. i have looked at the VW GTI and the BMW 3 series. the WRX has been my favorite car for a while. my neighbor has a 328i and i think a 528i(?). i like the GTI but it i don't like it as much as the WRX. my other dream car is a BMW M3 with the E43 body. but thats way out of my price range haha. at least for now.

Right, fair enough. Just seems strange that someone would start out with 2x centropygpe hybrids, a designer clownfish and a deep water basslet as their first and only fish for a 180 gallon tank Not starting off with a hippo tang and some damsels just doesn't feel right

The "conventions" on which we base our expectations of which fish should be kept first is a very old set of ideals....
As much as is now known about many of the more expensive fish available shows that many of them are not fragile - they just cost more.

Wow Matt, I'm sorry I didn't see this thread sooner to back you up and flame some of these poor souls on RC. You guys (you know who you are) should be ashamed of yourself for acting so caddy. This is an online <b>fish forum</b> and believe it or not, lots of people have more important things to do then to spend time responding to your negativity.

Matt is blessed to have a loving family that cares about him a lot. Yeah, he's got some expensive fish that maybe he didn't pay for. <b>GET OVER IT.</b>

thanks jon. and i'll trade some SPS once they actually grow lol. for some reason i do horrible with SPS. i had good luck with it in my old tank so i'm just gonna let this one run for another 6 months before i try any more SPS.

Matt I might be wrong here, but just wondering from watching the video is this a reef tank or a FOWLR?

Really good selection of equipment, but it looks like you need to stay more on top of maintenance.

i mentioned a few times in my build thread that i have been really busy and i haven't been able to stay on top of everything. there is coral but not much of it. you can see the big elegance in the video(it's all the way on the right).

Wait, how much is a brand new WRX STi? Wait, do you mean an E46? I'm a huge fan of the E46 style but I love the older styles as well. If you do end up with the WRX, please don't put one of those monster rice mufflers on it. A low growl is what you want it to sound like, not a... I think you know what I'm saying.
