I use kali and calcium rx together for the best combo. Kalk as my top off helps maintain tank ph @8.3 and everything is starting to take off. I only had issues with slight nitrate but got it under control with a sulfur denitrator. A good regulator is night and day. Cause you never know when you'll have ba end of tank dump and your not home.
