Upgrade: DSA 225

Hey all!

I've been lurking more then I have been posting, but I wanted to make sure that I familiarize myself with everything before posting. ;) it's easy to get lost in this size forum!

Well, I am currently running a 90 gallon SW tank, but am in the planning stages of upgrading. I've settled on getting a DSA model 225, with a custom built stand. :D It's very exciting to finally have a great starting point!

I have decided that I am going to run it FOWLR with macroalgae until all my fish are added, then once they've all been added, let the tank stabalize and mature, then hopefully be able to add some LPS. I plan on having a GFO and calcium reactor going, both for the macros and hopefully for a clam down the line...

I was wondering if there was anyone with macro in their DT? I'm sure there should be a few people, since anything I have googled has brought me back several RC threads. :)

Any advice??? I have several goals in mind for putting "pretty" macro in my DT, some of the main ones being: food for tangs, places for pods to hide, grow and flourish, and to be able to have nutrient export so that a biopellet reactor isn't needed, so LPS thrive. I currently do not have plans to fill it up with LPS, but I do have a few favorites that I would like to see in there eventually. I'm one of those people that perfer my fish over corals... my BF, who I am very lucky to say has joined this awesome hobby with me, is just the opposite, so it's the best of both worlds in two different tanks in my house ^.^

Anywho, I look forward to being able to hearing from everyone, and I'll be sure to keep a detailed tank thread for this beast! I'm working on getting the tank right now, but a few things need to be settled first. Hopefully within the next few months, so right now, it's all planning on paper that's happening. :D

All the best,
Brandie

You would be better served to put the macro for tang food, and pod grow out into a refugium. Otherwise, your pets will soon decimate your macro and pod population. You could make it a display refugium.

I plan on having both, to run on opposite timers. Sorry, I was just coming back here to post that; I plan on also running 120 gallon fuge/sump combo. I am going to set the tank up, run it lightless for the first 6 months to cycle (Tony Vargas cycle) and after the first three months, buff up the pod population slowly over the last three months. 120 gallon fuge/sump, big skimmer (I'm hoping to get a bubble king, even though I know it's $$$) an mpw60 or two, and an apex controller.
