Upgrade Help ???

In the process of upgrading from a 29g to a 75G. Do I need to cycle the new tank or can I transfer all from the 29 to the new 75 once it is up to correct temp and water parameters are o.k.

I would get new sand and seed it with 2/3 cups of sand from your old tank. Use as much of the old water as possible. Unfortunately though, you will still cycle.

You can use as much water as possible like said above. I also recommend using new sand. Base sand is cheap and you can use a few cups of your old sand to seed the new stuff.

Depending on how much Liverock you have you might avoid a cycle. I did this with my 75 to my 125. I never saw a cycle.

I did purchase new sand. I feel moving a sand bed would be detrimental and I do not mind waiting for the new tank to cycle. I just thought that if all the liverock has benneficial things living on it already I could avoid another cycle.
