? upgrade to 6100?

Hi Roger:

I currently have the 7095 multicontroller and 2 6000 Streams. My tank is 48"x32x30. It is viewable on 3 sides with one of the short sides (32") up against the wall with a trapezoidal overflow that nearly takes up the entire back wall.

I currently have the 6000s mounted on magnet holders on the angles sides of the trapezoid overflow. The 6000s actually point at the long sides of the tank rather than straight down and parallel to the 48" long side. Thus, the flow is directed obliquely into the side of the tank rather than parallel to the 48" side.

I am wondering if I should upgrade the 6000 to a 6100 to get better flow at the end of the tank, which is a viewable side.

You can see the overflow in the back of the tank in the attached pic.

I can also take a picture of the 6000s and post it if it would help.

I like your rock work! Anyway, a 6100 is a dramatic increase. You could do this if the tank will be SPS dominated but consider the flow will be doubled, it is a big increase, the lowest flow will be equal to the highest flow of your 6000.

Thanks for the prompt response Roger.

I have placed my hand at the end of the tank and can barely feel any flow when the 6000 is at the highest output. In fact, I'm getting a bit of a red slime algae problem only at the end of the tank, where the flow is the least because, I think, the main output of the pump directed at the long side of the tank rather than parallel to the tank.

The tank will be SPS dominated.

So, I gather you think it'll be okay.

What is required to upgrade the tank to a 6100?

Also, how much more heat will it add to the tank? I do have a chiller however.

Thanks,
Al

You only need a 7410.602 transformer, Premium Aquatics should have them. I calculate the tank is about 200 gallons so it should raise the temperature about 1 degree.
