well as the title sounds, i am planning an upgrade! i only have a 5 gal right now, small reef with a mantis shrimp. however i am upgrading to a 20L, within the next few days (possibly this evening). my main question is, using the 5 gals from my set up tank, and the rock/sand, will my corals live survive the transfer?i will have 15 gallons of set up of fresh salt water(proper temp, sg) but i am worried if there will be a cycle/if said cycle will be detrimental to the livestock. any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Biggest concern will be sand since your going to stir it up when you remove it. I would use all new sand and maybe a handful of the old sand. Since you will have a new bed, your tank will be a little more susceptible to spikes. Resist the urge to add more livestock for a while and don't overfeed and you should be fine. I went from a 14 to a 40 breeder with no losses.
