upgrade?

If you already had a 90 gallon reef up and running and had a chance to upgrade to a 125 long would you upgrade?
I am asking cause I have acquired a 125 for a really good price and am thinking of setting this up but I would like to hear what you would do, would you upgrade to the 125 long?

for me that would not be worth it. Not a big enough upgrade to make it worth it.

Now a 225-300 would be worth it.

Thanks keith for your opinion. The thing that worries me most is will the floor hold this 125. I would be too scared to try anything larger. Heck this scares me too ( all that weight on the floor) thats why I am still on the fence about wether or not I should try to set this tank up.

well it like this, my 90 tank is set up on a load bearing wall and this tank would be setup on a non load bearing wall which has me thinking if it will be ok or not. and this will be set up on the second floor. Just seems a bit scary for me. I do like how the 125 is longer than the 90 which will give my fish much more room to swim.

those would be too big for my house especially on the second floor with all that weight. but the room is not large either.

Voted no, assuming this is a 4 foot long tank. I have a 90 and while the added width is tempting it wouldnt be worth it to me I'm holding out for something larger.

Just noticed you posted while I was away from the screen, My 100 gal is a 6 foot and it rocks compared to the 90. I would upgrade from 90 to 125 if it was a 6 foot tank.

yep the 90 is 48" and the 125 is 72" looks much nicer having the extra length.

OK thanks for all the input folks, once I decide the 125 will be OK on a non load bearing wall then I will set it up. If I find it to be too much for the area I plan on putting it then it will be up for sale. if I can get someone to come out to my home and inspect the flooring and tell me it is OK then it goes up and replaces the 90 if not sale it is, man so many decisions that are stress full, lol

use the 90 gallon for a sump! Grow macro algae in there, and reap the benefits.

Non load bearing just means it doesnt have load on it, so chances are its 2x4 construction. A 2x4 wall will be more than strong enough to support a 125 gal tank

Yes but it would only catch three rafters. Think thats more than enough? The home is over 120 years old and built very well but I am still concerned about it. I am trying to find someone who can take a look at this and tell me if it is ok.

I really thought it out and even though it is considered a small upgrade to some, for me it will be a large project. The length of the tank alone makes it look and feel twice the size of the 90 and I plan on the cabinet being custom made to include some features I always wanted and to hide all the eguipment within. can't wait to get started!!!
