Upgrades?

So here I am looking at the Profilux accessories on Todds website
and thinking what do I really need (Ok what new toys do I want).

I am in the planning phase for a 180 that I hope to add
in the spring (So I can keep alot of the mess outside).

I will be putting the sump etc in the basement so at
that time the controller will move down as well.

So, I'm thinking I proabably want the remote display unit.

The PLM-EX Upgrade would be nice to add though I dont need all those
features yet. (is it really required to be able to go to the New III?).

I have a standard Float Sensor, but would like to add the Optical
Level Sensor since I think that is what I need for auto top off and
auto water changes (am I right? do I need any thing else?)

Since the remote display does not have a feed button could I
wire up a pushbutton to plug into the PLM-EX Level 3 port to
trip a feed pause? (New product, hint hint).

The Air Temp and Humidity sensor looks interesting for my sump
room as I should be able to make it turn on and off an outlet to
run the exaust fan when the room hgets too hot or humid.
Am I correct in thinking that is how it is set to work?
I assume I need both the Humidity & Air temperature Electrode
and PLM-Humidity-Temperature Expansion to make this work, correct?

I'll also be moving up to eight T5s so that means another
dimmable ballast, at that poing I want to split each ballast
up onto it's own lighting channed (L port) so I will be using
8 L-ports and the max is 10 correct?
(I think I read that the III will up the number of L-Ports).

Just doing a little homework to try to squeeze it in on 1 order

heheh I thought you where changing controller and going on the "other side".... I guess you changed your mind :c) even if there are a few gaps in the Profilux world with the documentation, I still thinks it the best one on the market now.

From what I understood, the EX board will be required for the PIII upgrade.

Hi Chris

Sorry to correct you ;)

Having a Plus IIEX has no relevance to the PIII upgrade, both plus II and plus II EX will use the same upgrade kit to pIII.

The only difference will be EX users will have more built in functionality to start with.

So to clarify

the PII will become a PIII
and
the PII EX will become a PIII EX

I was just kicking the tires....

I drive a Dodge, but every once in a while I look at a Chevy
then wind up saying Nah, and sticking with another Dodge.

I really like the Profilux, and I did a bunch of research
before getting it, It's sill holding the #1 spot.

I was thinking about buying a second controllers, one for
the new tank the other for the "Naughty" fish tank (where the
bad fish go to live when they don't play nice in the big tank).

So I need to decide upgrades, or 2nd controller, hmmmmm

Thank you!

harry you can just upgrade and have another unit daisy chained together so you can run both tank on one controller from what I understand. I would go that route before buying another controller.

Yes I thought about that but the two tanks will be pretty far apart.

I may just spend the money upgrading the big tank and
use some left over timers I have for the Naughty fish tank.

Unless I get real ambitious and just build up a simple controller.
(If I get really bored, with nothing else to do, but don't hold your breath.)

If your gonna make any upgrades right now, opt for the EX upgrade card, this gives you more L ports to play with at the very least.

In regards to the Level 3 port on the EX card you can only fit GHL level sensors to this.

if you want to put your own inputs to the profiLux then the SMS module has digital inputs to play with.

They would be the only two upgrades i would consider for your system right now.

lol good luck with that love to know what your looking to upgrade to when your ready

Actually nothing I really need at the moment,
it is just a matter getting a few more toys.

The optical sensor, remote display, and EX.
(In that order)
