I posted this elsewhere, but thought someone here might have a recommendation/idea:
I remember seeing someone's tank with the same bulbs powered by different ballasts. There was a big difference in color. I have a sunpod with two 150 watt MH. Both are 14k phoenix brand new and added same day/time. One side burns bluer than the other (even after swapping the bulbs). I have heard that sunpod ballasts are just okay. I wish to upgrade someday. Is it easy to do and does anyone have a recommendation to what type of ballast to use?
Also, does anyone have a recommendation for replacing the ballasts in a 72" current outer orbit (3) 150 watt metal halide fixture? I've gutted the fixture for parts in the past. I'm going to redo it, and I'm going to add 2 fulham workhorse 7 ballasts for the pc's on it (since it has no ballasts now)... also, I remember this thing sucked up a ton of electricity on me before (added $150 mth to our electric!)!! Could this be faulty ballasts? or just the fact that its 3 150 watt MH and 4 96watt pc's?
