Upgrading from 60 cube to 75 gallon

I am thinking about upgrading from a 60g rimless to a marine land 75 gallon. I would then probably put my old tank on consignment at my local fish store. I am just wondering peoples thoughts? The 75 gallon is 2 years old and nothing wrong with it, also comes with a nice stand. So as far as i can see

PROS -

• More length to keep fish apart
• 15 more gallons
• Less flow issues
• Able to keep some fish i could not before
• Larger stand, so more room to add things in sump area
• larger sump if i want
• more storage

• Have to buy a few more bags of sand
• Second light
• I have to spend 125 on tank and stand (killer deal i think)

Anything i am missing here? I mean i know the rimless is nice looking but its in the corner and with the 75 i could move the piano and put it as the center point in the room. Thoughts?

I did something similar about 5 months ago. I went from a 93 rimless cube to a 110 tall. The cube tanks are cool looking, but they have an awkward footprint that usually means putting them in and odd location, unless you have tons of room. Mine went from the corner of the dining room to now between a couple walls in the living room where it fits perfectly.

I really liked being able to put a large sump underneath as well. Overall, I've been happy with the change.

Some of the larger Marineland tanks have had some reported issues with separation of the center brace from the perimeter brace on the top of the tank, I think those reports are specific to the 180 gallon and large Deep Dimension tanks, so you should be safe with the 75g.

As long as you're considering upgrading, you might want to consider the Marineland 120g tanks. They're 4' by 2' by 2', and typically don't cost much more than a 75g.

+1^ If you're planning on putting in all the work needed to upgrade, I'd wait till you found a bigger tank like a 120g. Even if you have to wait to find a good deal on a used one locally I think it would be worth the wait.

I can get the 75g for 125 dollars, that includes the stand. And i have a brand new 40 gallon breed i can make into a sump and an upgrade skimmer from my neighbor for free. Still think i should wait for a 120? I did look at the 120 and man they are nice!

120 is the best size for smaller sized tanks. I personally think everyone should start at that point and go larger later if wanted. It costs the same to light a 75 as it does a 120. A lot of the costs are identical and you get more water volume.

That is a good deal on the 75 though.

I think the 75s are the best small tank options. They have decent width for aquascaping, have pretty good space for the sump/equipment, a bit of room for fish to roam, and at $125, the price sounds right (think I paid $125 for just the tank during the Blitz sale)! I've never understood the allure to the cubes but everyone has preferences.

So as of right now i have one gen 1 radion xr30w. Should i try to find another used one or mixmatch it and get something else?

So i guess also would a two xr15s would be better for a 75 gallon tank? I have not bought a light in many years, hense why i have a gen 1 Radion. I also see Kessil has some cool stuff out and AI Prime Hds are out too. Are those my only choices? Also cheaper is better of course, but with good quality. Suggestions?

chineese black box LEDs have worked great for me. They are about 100-120$ each. They were actually on sale on amazon prime for $80, but you missed that sale. I'd sugest the ones that have two separate power plugs for blue's and white's, that way you can have the blue lights set on a different timer than the whites.

I'd also still wait for a 120 personally. That's still a lot of effort to put into switching from a 60 to 75gallon. That's undoubtedly a good deal, but for me the effort to get it all set up counts for a lot as well. Plus if you're upgrading to a 75, or 120 or whatever, you're still quite likely to drop a couple hundred bucks on extra equipment/more live rock/sand/ fish/coral...etc, so the extra cost associated with bumping up to the 120 in the long run would be money well spent.

I actually found a good 120, but the glass is super foggy. I worry that it would not come out if i got it. I got the guy down to 250 but the cloudy glass thing really has me bugging. Anyone have experience with cloudy tank glass?

Ok i have decided i think i am just going to buy a new 90 and not deal with the hassle of looking for used items. Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy a good 90 and stand for a nice price.
