I'm out of room in my 130 gal so I am in the planning stages of having a 300 gal tank being built.
Dimensions will be 96x31x24
It will be an in wall unit with a 2 sided view with the rh panel showing and a fish/equipment room behind the tank.
A question I have; is it worth the extra cost to go with starfire on those two sides that are being viewed? I have people thinking my tank now is starfire and they are surprized when I tell them it's not. Also what are your thoughts on having the back using black glass?
My plan is to set up the 300 as my sps dominant main display, use my 130 gal (my present display) as my softie tank and keep my existing 40 gallon frag prop tank and plumb them all together to a common sump. I plan to start a build thread once I get going on this but I am mostly hoping for some general feed back on the things I've asked about. I am also considering using a closed loop system with an external herbie overflow so no equipment is seen in the display. I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
Thanks,
Greg

savethereef as for the back glass after a while it will be full of coraline.

True enough and I prefer a blue look anyway so I think I will use background sheeting like I do now.

Wow! A 300 gallon tank! That'll be great!

I am sure you'll make it a beautiful SPS tank given your 130's looks.

I would go 36" instead of 31" if you can. Check out Los's 360 tank build thread. You won't regret it. Just to let you know Perfecto has a standard 300 gallon tank. It is 72 x 36 x 27. and sells for $1522 I know that you are planning 8' long. Are you having the tank built in Canada? If so I have to recommend Miracle. They did a great job on Los's tank. Good luck and have fun with this.
