So im upgrading from a successful 40g breeder tank setup to a 48x24x24 120gallon.
I alrdy have

1 diamond watchman goby
1 yellow watchman and pistol
1 cleaner shrimp
1 blood red cleaner
3 chalk bass
1 clown fish
1 tailspot blenny

I know thats a bit too much for the 40 which is why im upgrading cause i like all the fish and dont want to get rid of any.

So will i be able to add more fish?

i understand the more fish the bigger better skimmer i need but i will be grabbing a good one.

7 rather small fish are not too much for a 40B, let alone for a tank three times the size.
One thing I would do is to get partners for some of your single fish, especially the clownfish and the watchman and diamond gobies. Those fish are always found in pairs in the wild. Sexing isn't much of an issue as they all can change sex - just get smaller individuals than the ones you have right now and add them to the new tank before you move your old fish.
I would also get partners for both of your shrimp.

If you want to stick with smaller fish you could add quite a few more as long as they get along with your current fish.

If coral nipping isn't an issue, you could also add a pair or small harem of pygmy or dwarf angels.

thanks ThRoewer, i didnt know diamonds watchmen were pairing animals. Yea i dont need massive fish but i would like some stuff thats bigger than what i have now.
I was planning on grabbing a nice clownfish for my one now.

I like bright and/or interesting fish like mandarins and the watchman with shrimp pair.
Chose the bass instead of firefish which seem to be everywhere.
