Upgrading tanks tonight, will SPS be Okay?

Hi,

So I finally upgraded from a 20 to a fusion sr-50 lagoon. Everything on the 50 is setup and just waiting for the temperature to transfer tanks. I have all my SPS and livestock in a 10 gallon rubbermaid. I want to make sure I don't kill my high end SPS or cause them to stn. I'll only be able to grab about 5 gallons of the old tank water to put in the new tank. I will have the salinity and temperature match, The ph right now on the new tank is 8.35 with all the new saltwater. Also the dkh will be higher with the coral pro salt due to the amount added for the bigger tank. Do you guys see any issues or can give me some advice to make sure it is a smooth transition please. I want them out of the Rubbermaid soon because of poor flow and no light.

Yes, good luck. I lost all but a few of my frags and mini-colonies when I moved over. I matched waters really close but something was horribly off that I couldn't measure. My rack had 52 when I started, 4 remain...

For what it's worth I upgraded and things did fine for a while, I had issues down the road that I'm still trying to recover from but it was from a mistake, or rather collective mistakes that occurred. Things didn't go wrong until I started changing things and I didn't quickly address them, namely nutrient related issues. However I only did a 30g water change when I switched tanks, which is maybe 30% of my system. I think you should have probably matched the alkalinity levels, this could potentially be a big issue and cause some stn and browning. In a new system like this it will be hard to recover from, and may be the loss of your acros/sps.

Good luck, nothing is set in stone and you may be just fine. Small changes are better than rapid knee jerk changes in most cases, keep that in mind.
