upgrading to ~150g tank

like an automatic feeder?

I tried automatic feeding with blended shrimp, clams, etc. I would like to rather increase phytoplankton in the tank rather than blended decomposing material. man forgive me for my grammar I am incredibly intoxicated right now.

Anyways more PICS!

I am almost 90 percent done with my LED fixtures. I am so proud of them Here look:

I will post some more now that I have the heat sinks mounted. I also have the drives and will be etching my own PCB so be prepared.

each fxture will ahve two 40 mm fans. Ok im checking out tonight, I cannot see straight, darn you wine!!!! leave me alone. Oh, I started dosing lanthanum chloride! HA it was sweet today...im going to sleep..nite

dude ! and your gonna make em look nice, i think your the best DIY guy here. lol RESPECT

I really appreciate that comment. Yeah when all is said and done they should like some high powered vegas hanging in mid air (I am going to use fishing line from ceiling).

For other news I got some new additions to the tank. I have always wanted to keep tangs....soooooo

I just received two yellow tangs, one naso tang, and a regal/hippo tang. I also purchased a whitecheek tang, but It was already long dead when it arrived...notting of my doing but I still feel terrible. The rest are doing good and are all acclimated. Did a little 10 gallon water change and hooked up the ATO. my forty gallon is officially decommissioned. I will post some pics of the fish when the GF gets home with the digital camera.

I also started the lanthanum chloride dosing. So far so good. On a side note, running a 5 micron filter makes the water crazy crystal clear.

Ok so far everything is doing good, I am getting diatom blooms on my new rock, but everything checks out with tests. The 40-50 lbs of rock in the sump helped with the seeding. The new fish are good and healthy; eating like pigs. Here are some pics.

Sorry about the quality, I was trying to hurry. You can see the hippo in the last one. Its small but looks really healthy.

and now for the sneak peak........

my reef controller (Jarduino style...thanks for the code partner)!

So far the dimming feature is amazing. I blew a LDD-1000H (or it was defective), but I have replacement LDD-1000H, new LDD-700, and the colored LEDs on the way.

The controller features a sunrise/sunset function and lunar led capabilities. It monitors all temps (will be setting this up), has automatic feeding, and wavemaker abilities. I will post a video walk through on it. So here it is:

<a href="http://s1103.photobucket.com/user/Chaka85/media/IMG_1102.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g465/Chaka85/IMG_1102.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1102.jpg"/></a>

This will be the "brains". It houses the two power supplies, all the led drivers, and fan controlling. Its ~30cm x 12 cm x 12 cm. It will be housed on the back of the aquarium stand. I call it my black er whitish box :uhoh3:

<a href="http://s1103.photobucket.com/user/Chaka85/media/IMG_1103.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g465/Chaka85/IMG_1103.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1103.jpg"/></a>

and the moment you have all been waiting for!!!

I have the lights set up and doing their sunrise sunset thing, I have them on a temporary stand until I get them mounted to ceiling. Here are some pics, color is amazing, little blue on the camera (of course the color temp changes throughout the day). I love having the top open to look down into. let me know what you all think.

As you can see there is a slight amount of disco effect, doesn't bother me, but more noticeable during "high noon" when whites are set to max

Nice setup. Haa, diatoms the first sing of a cycling system. 12 hrs. of LEDs at your cyling? in case of uncontrollable diatoms or even dinos, lower your photo period and keep your nutriends in check. telling you this to avoid a bad experiance. good luck

Yeah the thing is my photo period is not like a typical system. The lights are not on and off, I say 12 hours, but its only at ~75-80% for less than an hour. The rest of the time its ramping up and down. I think if I was to change the lighting now the corals would suffer, not to mention all the diatoms are almost gone and nice green/purple coloring is starting to cover the rocks. Thanks for the tips tho, much love

any idea what kind of coral you be stocking.... not that you will be limited lol!

somehow I missed this. I would like to have heavy SPS in the tank with various areas of LPS and anemones. Zoas and palys in various lower areas. I will take a look and come up with some SPS I would like to have.

Just some pics of the fish and a couple of corals.
