Upgrading to a larger tank?

I'm currently in the process of upgrading from a 25 gallon to a tank around 200 gallon. Will be starting out wiith all cured live rocks, that's been cured in a seperate container for a while.

When does everyone think is a good time to move live stock over after tank start up? I read that you shouldn't add LPS corals before 3-4 months, Maxima Clams at least 6 months, and SPS 9-12 months. If I were to follow these guidelines, then it will take me a year to finalize moving the tank.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Your water tests will tell you when your tank is ready. You definitely want to guard against adding more sensitive animals to a new tank until you have some confidence that it is stable but I think you will be able to move those timeframes up.

I assume you mean that you are transferring corals from your current tank?

I always thought the 9-12 months for SPS was hooey, until I moved all my livestock to a new tank. We're just hitting the 12 month mark, and things are finally starting to grow like crazy and look happy again. Now, I've got AEFW to contend with, but I have to say, I'm also on the "wait for the tank to mature before adding SPS" bandwagon. I'm in the process of upgrading, and I expect that, along with eradicating the AEFW, I won't move the SPS until some time next year.

Congrats on your upgrade. IMO I would wait until the large tank is mature before I added the livestock. It seems they have a good place to live for the time being.
