UPS question

Hi Mike,

First I'm positive you can get that unit for much less -- check pricegrabber or eBay for starters. The unit ZrC mentioned is a little better. NewEgg is an excellent a good retailer, also check ZipZoomFly.

You may want to read this recent thread on RC regarding UPS devices and generators for power losses. The question I have is why you need it. Most tanks will be fine for a few hours during a power loss, with the first concern being O2 issues -- in which case you can spend a fraction of what you're looking to spend for one of these.

That APC UPS might not reliably run your Koralia. I had a Koralia plugged into a bigger model from APC and it worked fine when I first plugged it in and tested it. When the power went out you could see the Koralia trying to start but wouldn't quite turn over. I contacted APC and they told me those models were designed to back up electronic equipment, not motors. They said I needed a UPS that output true sine wave or something like that. For that APC line, that would be the SmartUPS 750 and above. I found a remanufactured SmartUPS 1000 from a link someone posted here and that one runs the power heads.
