urchins egg layer or not

Do urchins lay egs if so what do they look like.

No. The majority of urchins are broadcast spawners - they release eggs & sperm into the water for fertilization. Some are live brooders.

Well the reasion I ask is my urchin had made a ball of to the best as I can discribe was a dough like substance. I noticed it on my way to work. When I got home the ball was gone but he was covered in these little white balls that look like eggs of some type. Any ideas as to what it possably is.
