I purchased it a week ago and it wasnot eating at first which i figured is normal.....but not it wont eat silversides, shrimp anything and has retracted all its tenticales..idk what to do????? i was going to try krill next but if that does not work what do i do?:headwally:

by it retracting all its tentacles tells me it is starving i would use a small and i mean small piece of shrimp hold it on its mouth till it grabs hold you will need to do this every other day till it get better and every thing is back to normal this will take some time trust me i know

Anemones feed well off of stuff in the water column. There's no need to target feed them. In fact, its usually a bad idea to try and feed them right away when adding them to a tank. I've got 6 BTAs and have never target fed any of them.

you are right but if they are bleach and his light is not strong enough then feeding is what it will need to regain its color .

some pics would be nice to see the condition of the nem... also post ur params and tank details... How long has the tank been setup?

ok i was able to save him for today....I had cut up a silver side really fine and help him infront until he grabbed it. After i saw he ate it i went to my LFS and purchased some krill and a koralia 240gph for added water flow...When i got home i saw the BTA open and i was extactic!!! i quickly but the krill in the tank and pointed the Koralia not directly at the BTA but in the general direction and ut has slowly up now...Tom i will do the same thing and cut a siln i really fine and give it to it again..I will post pictures now of the BTA when i purchased it, when it closed and when it opened up again.

i have a 29gal jbj that has been running for a year..Only thing i have added is the koralia today and rotation flow on one of the return pump...I have the standard lights metal halloids i believe and i run them for 12 hours a day

the picture above is when i purchased the BTA

The picture below is the BTA recovered fully open about 13" to 15"

The second pic is when it was sick earlier today

Perhaps the deflation is the inflation/deflation that naturally occurs with BTAs at times. They do that sometimes after eating, when expelling waste. The maroon looks good with the anemone. BTAs are maroons only natural host.

he was not eating though thats why i freaked out.... he has mobed towards the direction of the koralia pump now opening up realy nice. and thank you there's a little gold flake clown swimming around the BTA as well

I wouldn't say this is universally true. IME, BTAs in lightly stocked, sparsely fed systems fare better with target feeding. And starving or bleached nems can't rely on zooxanthellae alone.

i taget fed the BTA yesterday and today it is doing great...i just have been cutting up the silver sides so it easier for the BTA to eat.
