use of activated carbon

i am dosing vinegar as a carbon source to lower p04 and no3 and i have good skimmer deltec3070 on 3500 liter sys heavy stock of lps and some sps my question is should i be running activated carbon 24-7 passively or in a reactor, or only if i see signs of yellow water?
P.S i am using Glacial acetic acid 99.9% pure vinegar

i would keep it running all the time remeber to start your dose slow and build up
