Use of Furan-2 during Ich tank-transfer method?

I'm looking for input on dosing Furan-2 during my tank transfer activities. My normal QT procedure is tank-transfer method for ich, with PraziPro being added during the first two cycles, after which the fish go to the DT. I know QT and hospital tanks are preferred, but this is what I do. I intend to add a pair of chromis to my tank and intend to treat them with Furan-2 in case they have uronema marinum.

Has anyone done this? The directions state that you dose on days 1 and 2, then do a 25% water change, before dosing on days 3 and 4. My concern is the break-down rate of the medication, i.e. does the 4-day treatment result in a build-up of medication in the water or are the multiple days of dosing designed to maintain a medication level. Any input would be appreciated.

It appears that he has not cycled the medium intended for the QT.

There is no rush. I don't do an extended QT because I don't have a good space that I'd want to setup a temporary tank for 6 weeks. Instead, I avoid "difficult" fish, and only purchase fish that look health and are eating vigorously.

Back to the original question, does the Furan-2 require daily dosing because it degrades or because the medication concentration needs to be ramped up?

Yes, the meds are consumed/metabolized/broke down during the course of treatment. I would follow the dosing directions as directed for the best results.

As you are using the tank transfer method, I would not complicate the use of Furan-2 until you establish the chromis have a bacterial infection. I would not treat with the antibiotics without signs of infection (prophylactic).

Thanks for the input. I was thinking of using the Furan because a) I've read that chromis are prone to uronema, and B) if uronema enters the tank, the only way to eradicate it is to break everything down and dry/bleach all the sand and rock. Again, thanks everyone for the input.
