Using Cipro on fish

I've been treating a fish with an open cut on its body with Maracyn 2 for two days. It was leftover medication and I only had enough packs for two days instead of recommended 5 day treatment. So tomorrow I'll have to go out and buy more Maracyn 2 for $10. No big deal.
However, I was wondering if anyone here has used Ciprofloxacin on their fishes as antibiotic? I have quite a few pills of it left (500mg per tablet) that I used to treat my carpet anemones. it would be nice to be able to use it instead if possible. Any suggestions and recommended dosage instructions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Cipro medication I have is called FishLife and they recommend 500 mg per 2 gallons which sounds like a lot of meds for one dose. So I might just get Maracyn 2 tomorrow.
