Using radions on new setup

I posted this in the ecotech forum but i figured here would be a good place also.

Getting ready to get some radions for a new setup. The dimensions are below, and the only thing that is not listed is the height which is 36".

I only have the cash for 3 radions so that is what i will be using hopefully. There will be MAYBE a few SPS corals near the surface. But tank will mainly consist of softies and LPS. Oh, and ALOT of fish.

So my question is......Am I being reasonable thinking that I can do softies on the bottom with maybe an open brain or two. and softies and LPS throughout the mid and upper levels of the tank?

I will obviously only place corals in center of tank where rockwork will be. There will probably be 10" between rock and glass on both sides and front and back.

Yea man, you just adjust the intensity as needed. Start low, increase each day till they seem not as open then dial it back and your set.

The OP is concerned about light penetration, not an acclimation process.

cool. I was more worried about not enough light, but from what you say you dont think that ill be an issue?

At a 36" depth you may run into some issues with not enough light reaching the bottom. Maybe you can supplement with Ecoxotic Canons or Kessil A350s (when they become available). But you're right, you could probably get away with lower light corals such as mushrooms, some acans, as well as chalices.

Cool thats more what i was concerned about. I got out of the SPS themed tanks for the most part so acans chalices and open brains would be lining the bottom, along with a few zoas and mushrooms.

For this size tank what are some reccomendations for the mounting height? I'm thinking maybe 10-12 " from water?

If I remember correctly, the optimal height for the Radions is 8"-9". However, I have mine mounted in my canopy at that height, and I wish I could move it higher since I don't like the way the different colored LEDs create odd shimmer lines (almost like a strobe light).
