Do most people not use the flash when taking pics of their tank. I havn't had much luck taking pics with the flash on. Here's my best one witht the flash on. Other than that i can never get the true color of the tank

Flash ON :(from a top angle view so i don't get a huge reflection)

Would turning off the T5 actinics OFF help?
I know there is just so much i can do with a point and shoot

Thanks

If you have yellow lights, your pictures are going to be way yellow. If you have blue lights, your pictures are going to be way blue. This is why I continuously stress RAW is so importiant for reef photography. If you have a point and shoot maybe you should look into that coffee filter thread with the guy with the D90. I don't know why on earth he is interested but you might be able to benefit?

Thanks, i guess if i don't have a choice i'll check it out. Do you think it would help if I turned off my actinic while taking the pics? Guess i'll just have to try it. thanks again for your input

If your pictures are too blue, turning off blue lights will make the picture less blue. I think that is pretty obvious. Of course without the blue lights you picture might be yellow. Your camera thinks it is taking a picture of a flower in a meadow under a bright spring morning. It doesn't know you are taking a picture of a coral in a fish tank under a series of artificial lights with alternating colors and intensities. how COULD it know? So, it takes a picture of your coral under artificial lights the same way it takes a picture of everything else...as a flower in a sunny meadow. This is why photo editing is SO importiant. In some cases the camera simply can't get it right on its own.
