Using water-change water to cure rock?

I bought some marco rock and read that it should be cured before adding it to a display tank. Can I use water-change water from my display in a brute container with a heater and a powerhead but no lights? Seems like a waste just to let it go down the drain....Thanks,

thats what i'm using for mine right now. I've got an old berlin skimmer running on the tank to, been pullin out some nasty funk.
