UV ray?

my new bulbs had been on for 9 days already, but the sps are still look some what burned. so it is bc of the new bulbs par value or it is bc of the UV ray? or defective bulbs? i did cut down the hrs from 6hrs to 4hrs for the first 2 days and then to 2 hrs cuz 4 hrs were still too much light. what do you think?

Are you running SE or HQI MH's? SE bulbs come with the UV shield.

HQI needs the UV shielding glass.

Is this a reptile bulb? They make 250W single ended heat/uv lamps for reptiles that include a metal halide/mercury vapor component to produce UV. These are NOT(!!!!) suitable for anything in a reef tank.
