uv sterilizer/pods question

does anyone know if the uv sterilizer will kill the copepods when they pass through it?

I have heard it just gives them a sunburn,I have ran a sterilzer for a while and didnt see any decrease in them.

It hasnt made a dent in my pod population.

The harpacticoid kind probably aren't likely to go through the sterilizer in large numbers in any case, as they don't generally float around in the water column.
