UV Sterilizer Question

Does a uv sterilizer have any ill affects on a reef tank or are they purely beneficial?

Do they kill any beneficail creatures such as pods?

They can if the pod passes through it. IMO the few pods that get zapped is nothing compared to the benefits of running one.

imo the benefits are worth it.

Pods, like copepods or even amphipods, are a lot bigger than stuff you are trying to kill (algae, bacteria, parasites like ich, etc.) I doubt you will have a UV sized big enough to kill anything as large as a pod.
