UV Sterilizer

My tank is finishing up the cycling and re-curing process of 200 pounds of live rock and 160 pounds of live sand. The tank by the way is 125 lbs. There is no livestock in the tank and the parameters today were Ammonia 0, Nitrites .1 ppm and Nitrates 25 ppm, salinity 1.022, water temp 73, calcium 400 and alkalinity a little high at 4.6 prior to the water change. I did a 10% water change today. The last 3 1/2 weeks while the ammonia was peaked and nitrites high did not have the UV sterilizer running so not to zap good stuff. I just connected today after the water change. Do you think this is a good idea to have this running or will it not benefit the system in anyway towards the end. Oh, I do have brown algae diatoms, about 4 small areas of hair algae tufts and another form of green algae on the corner of the sand. The guy from the company I had customize the tank said it is not necessary. What does anybody think?

From what i have read Uv Sterilizers kill both good and bad things, i was thinking of getting one for my tank eventually, i have read good opinions and bad ones on using them, IMO they are not necessary from what i have read.

UV sterilizer kill everything, thats why they call it sterilizer
my opinion are not necessary, in the nature theres no way steril environment
