We going to Cozumel tomorrow for a week!!! Hope to take some pics....If I can figure out how to post them I will. We'll be diving for 4 + days of that.

I would be interested to hear where to dive in Cozumel.

great advise thus far. Its fun to read previous experiences.

We plan to go for a week or so, maybe 10 days.
Long Plane rides are not an issue.
All-inclusive is what we would prefer. Free drinking rocks.

I got to go there on my honeymoon. The rooms are built into the side of the mountain and are wide open - no walls. Good diving too. Very quiet, you can be as alone as you want or you can hang out with the other guests. Diving, snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking (it kicked my butt!), kayaking, hot springs, gardens...it was worth the trip.

Ian, give Jeremy Bland at Tortuga Bay here in Greeley a call. He can make some sweet recommendations. 970-353-3337

cheers~!

Cozumel and the Mayan Riveria (just across from Cozumel on the main land) are beautiful, close and realitively inexpensive. There is a ton of marine life and the water is simply amazing. My wife and I have been to the area 5 or 6 times and love it, we even got married on Cozumel. Neither of us dive just snorkle, but we have seen a lot of very impressive coral, fish and other great animals. Our favorite snorkle spot on the mainland is Akumal or Halfmoon bay (http://www.locogringo.com/maps/tour/122b-t.html), we have seen turtles everytime we have gone out. From what others have told me, there is also great diving on the mainland in addition to the famous reefs on Cozumel.

Just exploring the island or mainland is great too, lots of Mayan ruins very close and dense jungle. We typically spend quite a bit of time tidepooling on every trip, we've even turned up a decent sized octupus in less than 6in of water one time. There are many varieties of birds, insects, reptiles and mammals to watch as well. And it is great to just play in the warm Caribbean waters.

For the money, convenience (short flight) you can't go wrong with the Mexican Caribbean......

Well, we booked out vaction to Cozumel. 6/11-6/18. Cant wait for some fun in the sun. Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Just got back from Cozumel, never disappointed!!!
You will have a blast, where are you staying? We stay at the Wyndham (formerly the Reef Club) It's all-inclusive and they have on site dive operation(SandDollarSports) where all of their instructors are tops!!!
My son just did his open water cert. dives and passed with flying colors!!! (I wish I got to try scuba when I was 11!!!)
On Sunday we went on a dive together to Palancar Gardens.....Awesome coral formations, caves, overhangs, all from 20' down to 100'.
I did my entire certification here in September, it took 4 days and cost 400 total for everything.
I will try to resize some pics and post them later.
Have fun in June!!!!!!
