Vacation Reef

Cod Fish

Im on vacation in Cancun away from my tank for the first time. Found some snails and a huge carpet of green zoas just steps off the beach. Here's my micro reef for the night. The flexible LED nightlite came in handy.

Without a protein skimmer you'll be needing to keep up with those water changes! And if you're planning on a tank upgrade soon, a large bottle of fiji water should give you a nice rimless cube.

Jeez I wasn't planning on keeping this a week. I had it for 4 hours then back in the water. I'll keep my eye out for the pico police.

Doesn't look too bad....just don't try and keep a tang in there. The tang police will arrest you! :lmao:

led looks like a standard 10k. The zoas actually opened up quite a bit. I found them covered with silt and sand. Saw some awesome corals today snorkeling

I like the minimalist aquascaping.
Any plans on upgrading in the future? Like maybe to a 2-liter soda bottle? :D

To be fair, you really should check on the legality of collection. The last thing I would want on a vacation to cancun is to get arrested/fined for keeping some ocean wildlife in a water bottle. That will do more to rain on your parade than anything that anyone here could say to you.

Aside from that, looks pretty fun. It's good of you to be willing to admit they wouldn't survive long in a bottle like that and be willing to let them go. Assuming it's legal to collect, looking forward to seeing what other cool creatures get to spend the night! If not, at least upload some snorkeling pics!

And of course, enjoy the vaca. They never last long enough!
