Vacation?

So what do you guys do when you go on vacation as far as feeding? I'm looking at setting up a dwarf tank and am trying to plan it out.

Thanks,

With dwarfs, you either find someone who can feed them for you at least once a day..... or you're like me and many others: we don't take vacations :(

They would be fine if you're planning a long weekend, feed right before you leave on a Friday and feed immediately upon return on a Sunday. Longer than that, you'll need someone to take care of them for you.

i've been wondering, what if you use a dosing uphanging bottle. ( a water bottle that has an airline tube sticking out the bottom (top) that is tied in the middle so their is very slow flow, before you leave top it off and throw in some decapsulated brine shrimp. tie electricians tape all around the bottle and put it over your tank and the tank has lights, so all of the baby brine shrimp would swim down, in theory.

my question is, will this work?

or are brine shrimp subjected to the same geotrophic traits as most plants, and i believe if i remember right most larval nektonic organisms, that live in the photic zone.

interested if anyone has tried this.....tommy

or you could stick a ripe piece of chaeto and a pouch of cope pods in right before you leave.

still dont leave for too long. your step dad ight add liquid ph buffer for 6.5 ph, instead of mixing the powdered 8.0 form .... yeah my lcuk lol

I was thinking of the same setup, but with an aqualifter pump on a timer. The trick would be to not flood the tank or shift the specific gravity. Yucky hatch solution could also be an issue.

Colin,

If you're in the local Aquarist Club, you might be able to find someone you trust to feed your animals...

In our case (Edmond) we have a house-sitter, who enjoys getting away from her house and just happens to like our fish and cats...

then we pay a lady to do water changes and maintenance when we are gone for an extended trip...

you can pay someone at your lfs . i been going to the same lfs for
2 years . i pay them to feed and take care of my tanks..

My mother in law is awesome at taking care of my tanks.

It's funny because when I write instructions I am more detailed then what I do every day, since it's planned out, and she is so loving of animals she takes hte time to understand what and why.

Last time I came home my tank looked better then when I take care of it, my corals looked huge. I asked her if she'd come over more often . . . . she said no.
