Valencienna strigata and QT

I like to QT all new fish for 6 weeks in hypo. I am planning on adding a Sleeper Gold Head Goby (Valencienna strigata) and would like to QT it first. Will this fish be OK without sand for 6-8 weeks?

DSP, some people will put a small plastic container with sand in their QT. As these gobies sift and live in the sand, I would consider this option to keep his stress low.

Definitely have a bit of sand...and put some large objects over it creating a cave for it. They like to hide a lot.
