Hello ALL!
I know several customers of the store (Valley Tropical Fish) do surf our local forum here. So for those people I wanted to announce that I am no longer employed at this business :)
For those friends of mine and those who would like to know WHERE you can still purchase my personal things at, I still have most of my corals, and some really nice ones at that, feel free to contact me at my phone number for those who have it. Or by email at Shawnts106@yahoo.com

For those who would like to know why I am no longer employed there, feel free to contact me in the same manner. I will not bash the business that Kathy Manages, there is no need for that. For those customers who will not shop there unless I am present I am sorry. Feel free to contact me for those special Items you are interested in and I will be more than happy to let you know how you can get whatever you would like, from Corals to fish and drygoods Ill let you know.

I am very greatfull for the years that I had there, although I will not be "stopping by" as there is no reason for me to any longer.

As far as our LOCAL reef club goes, I hope to see that it still moves forward dispite the stores closing down. I still will attend these meetings as I am not completely out of the hobby! :)
And I still dont mind giving people GOOD, QUALITY, KNOWLEDGEABLE, and HELPFUL advise about your aquariums to the best of my 10 years experience and knowledge! If you have any concerns or questions about something just send me a message/email and Ill be happy to talk with you, and if I dont know Ill direct you to someone who might! I still am very much supporting research and KNOWLEDGE in this hobby and DO NOT support the "blind leading the blind" phenomenon that everyone sees so much lately...

I have some great contacts that everyone can check out for some amazing stuff. Just let me know!

FOR ALL THOSE EMAILING ME about problems you have encountered at the store with the staff there PLEASE DO NOT SEND HATE MAIL TO ME. I am not in control of other members of staff there. Sorry for the problems you have been having, or have had in the past.

If you have questions about products you have purchased, or are going to purchase, or livestock questions feel free to email me about THESE questions. But I do not like opening my inbox to find a ton of BAD emails regarding issues with certain members of the staff there at the store. I am no longer empolyeed there and if you wish to comunicate those problems, please direct them to the OWNER or other member of the staff there.

Shawn, you need to create you a webpage with what you have to offer. My wife and I visited Valley just to get advice from landcrabs to tropical. Hate to see u go. :bum:
 
Actually a webpage may not be too far into the future...
there are a few details that are being worked out.... Of course, if that day comes, It will be announced! lol

I am also looking into a Job at the Virginia Institution of Marine Science Research right now... About 4 years or so ago I visited up there and was promised a Job by the institution... I know the marine vet on staff so... there was a foot in the door already...

I am going to find out what they have to offer...

And I do not have acess to the stores webpage any longer... I was never allowed the time to keep it updated anyway... kinda pointless to even have one.
 
Wow...went by Valley the other day for the first time in over two years and was completely surprised by what I saw!!! What has happened to the place??? It was horrible. Nasty, dirty, dark, and dingy and smelled horrible. I was SOOOO disapponted. I still cant believe how the place has changed!!! What has happened? It must be owned by someone else because when Kathy was there and especially Shawn it was the best place I would say in NE Alabama. But it sure aint now!!!

Nope she still owns it but is selling it and is suppose to change hands in the next couple weeks. I think there in the process of doing the paper work.
I agree it has went down since they moved in the place there in now. I really cant say why but have ideas. I stopped in there today. Im hoping the new owner will get things up to par and get some stuff in there cuz you cant sell it if you aint got it

Yeah I still talk to him from time to time. He is still in school full time. No longer has a tank and taking a break from it for a bit.
The store started going down hill when he left thats for sure but him and Kathy just couldnt see eye to eye. I know the hole story about everything but not going to post it for everybody to see.

Im just so excited that that somebody else is getting the store.:bounce3: We really need a good LFS again. I stop by every so often buy rarely buy anything. I got a fish today then ended up getting some billy club palys cuz they were a good price.
 
Yea I bought a 210g and sump from him personally (not through the store) back in 2007 while we were building our house but never used it. Sold it to my brother and have not had a tank since. I am getting ready to start another reef tank and that was the reason for my visit to the store. I had run into Shawn at Lowes and he told me that they had just moved the store into the new loc but I never had gone by. I was so shocked when I went by last week. Just could not believe how bad it was. Nothing like it used to be!!! I had been comparing all the lfs to Valley and none really compared to all the others I have been to so I was totally surprised when I saw how different it was!!! The only other really nice store I have visited was one down in Mobile and it was really nice. I still cant believe that Kathy has let the store go so far down hill. Oh well I just liked going to Valley and talking to Shawn. He was always so helpful and never seemed bothered to talk or help you out. Its just ashame that we dont have a good lfs anywhere around.
 
When you are ready for a tank. I may know where a few are(used) just LMK what you are looking for. I know we need a better LFS and hope that happens soon. Ive been ordering 95% of my stuff online
