Hi Guys, new here at the Forum, new member to FMAS. I have a lion fish, have had him for four months. He was very healthy eating every other day or two and all of a sudden he refuses to eat. Don't know what to do. Any Suggestions.

Water is perfectly stable, I was feeding him one day shrimp and the next time was Silversides. It is a 40 gallon tank and hes about 6 inches now.

id try offering him some live food and see if he accepts it. if not, id probably look at some other source of problem, maybe he has some type of internal disease/infection. keep an eye on him and his poop if anything looks abnormal.

i wouldnt jump the gun though, unless he hasnt eaten for more then a week.

Try feeding him peppermint shrimp when the lights go out. They are nocturnal and prefer to hunt for live food at night. Hope this helps, JOHNNY

I always thought that lion fishes liked to hunt during the day, I've never seen them hunting at night.
I've had a few for a few years and usually they will stop eating for a few days if they ate a big morsal or a whole fish, it may take them even longer if they eat something with a shell, i saw a large Black Volitan eat a thump size hermit crab once, he regurgitated the whole crab a few days later.
